Employee Benefits Overview:
New employees are under a 90 day probationary period. Leave is accumulated after the completion of the probationary period. Payroll is bi-weekly and direct deposit is available.
Medical
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (Health Savings Account) which includes coverage of medical expenses such as doctors, hospitals, and prescriptions. SMCN covers most of the premium while employees pay a small percentage. Employees also may contribute to their Health Savings Accounts through payroll deduction.
Dental
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield coverage which includes basic and preventative care up to $1,000 per year.
Short-Term Disability
SMCN pays this premium based on current earnings. STD is 60% of your earnings after 31 consecutive days of disability.
Long-Term Disability
SMCN pays for this premium based on current earnings. LTD is 60% of your earnings after 90 consecutive days of disability.
Group Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment
Coverage of $10,000, premium is paid for by SMCN.
Employee Assistance Program
Free, confidential counseling and referral service designed to help employees and their family members resolve personal problems. SMCN pays 100% of the premium.
403-B Retirement Plan
Employees are eligible to participate in the 403-b savings plan upon hire. SMCN will match up to 3% of the employees annual salary. After one year of full-time employment, SMCN will contribute to the employees retirement account. Employees who meet their five year mark and have been employed on a full-time basis become fully vested in their retriement benefits.
Worker's Compensation
All employees who work for SMCN are covered under our Worker's Compensation insurance program.
Wellness Program
New employees will be eligible to enroll in the Wellness Program after 30 days of employment. SMCN has partnered with the Calvert KeepWell Center and offers a discounted World Gym membership rate. Employees who complete the enrollment process will join the World Gym for $19.99 per month. Employees who attend the gym at least twice per week will be reimbursed $30.00 per quarter by SMCN for their participation.
Tuition Reimbursement
SMCN will reimburse an employee up to $600.00 per semester (based on financial availability and the fiscal budget). Must be employed for one year and a commitment is required.
Mileage Reimbursement
When traveling for SMCN in your personal vehicle, reimbursement of mileage is paid at a rate of .40 cents per mile. Mileage reimbursement must be pre-approved.
Leave
Annual Leave: 8 hours per month. 80 hours carried over at the end of the fiscal year, but employees may lose anything over if it is not used.
Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (no limits on carry over and no pay out)
Personal Leave: 24 hours per year (40 hour employee) and 18 hours per year (32 hour employee). Balance resets to zero at the end of the fiscal year. Use or lose.
